Asbestos Exposure & Mesothelioma in Washington
Video Transcript
Washington is unique with respect to asbestos and mesothelioma law in part because of how prevalent asbestos use was in Washington, over the years we have shipyards, paper mills, other industrial sites where asbestos was used heavily and some of the counties in Washington state like Kitsap County have some of the highest rates of Mesothelioma in the United States and what that has meant is over the last several decades.
People have filed cases as developed the law in Washington from those cases based on what the courts have found and what they found is that if you can show the manufacturers of asbestos products sold the products they are used at the site that the person worked, and is exposed to asbestos, you can bring claims.
Here at Bergman Oslund Udo Little, we have also expanded the rights of people to bring claims against responsible parties for example we have filed cases where ultimately the appeals court have found that property owners who knew asbestos was used who didn’t warn people they invited onto the side about asbestos hazards they can be held responsible another is a case that went all the way to the Washington supreme court, which found that a company was responsible for putting out asbestos products because their logo appeared on the bag and somebody could conceivably believe that that it was their products, and so that another example of Bergman Oslund Udo Little expanding the right of people to bring claims for harm that they have from asbestos exposure and to hold responsible parties accountable for their disease.
