Matt Bergman Elected to Oregon State Bar, House of Delegates

BOUL attorney

The leadership team of Bergman Draper Oslund is pleased to congratulate founding partner Matthew Bergman on his election to the House of Delegates of the Oregon State Bar. The House of Delegates has the power to influence major legislative and policy issues that affect our clients in Oregon, Washington, and beyond.

When pursuing the appointment, Bergman wanted to “serve in the House of Delegates to better represent the interests of out-of-state lawyers who actively litigate in Oregon courts.” Matt said, “Lawyers who practice outside of Oregon have different experiences and perspectives that can benefit the delivery of legal services in Oregon and the exercise of justice by our courts.”

With his new seat as a delegate to the Oregon state bar, Matt has an active voice in Oregon policy issues and will represent the interests of Bergman Draper Oslund’s clients. The House of Delegates consists of a Board of Governors, representatives from regional and county bar associations, elected delegates from in-state regions, plus one out-of-state rep, and one public member from each region.

Matt is a senior partner and founding member of Bergman Draper Oslund as well as a philanthropist and trustee of Reed College. Matt is known for his passionate advocacy on behalf of asbestos victims and has spoken nationally and globally, as well as before Congress, on critical matters of asbestos litigation. He works closely with local and global unions to protect workers and fight for their rights.

His philanthropic work includes a commitment to the Maasai peoples of Kenya to maintain and preserve their culture, empower women, and promote education and computer literacy. Matt has written extensively on African policy and is a frequent visitor to Kenya as part of his humanitarian efforts on behalf of marginalized people there.

Congratulations to Matt on his election to the House of Delegates of the Oregon state Bar. The team looks forward to his continued advocacy for clients and the opportunity this new position represents for asbestos victims.
